Chepstow Amateur Operatics Society - Music and Drama

Chaos MaD

First formed in 1908, Chaos Music and Drama have been entertaining the people of Chepstow for over 100 years. The group has gained a reputation for putting on a sell-out, fantastically entertaining pantomime every January in Chepstow’s Drill Hall which is always highly spoken about amongst the local community. We also produce a musical show in the Summertime and, in recent years, an Autumn play every other year.

As well as producing highly regarded, crowd-pleasing productions, Chaos is a wonderful society full of individuals from all walks of life with one major thing in common: a love of live performance. As a not-for-profit society, all of the work put into these shows is done voluntarily which is no mean feat. From directing, costume design, lighting and sound design to acting, singing, dancing and stage managing, everything is done from a place of passion. Because of this, Chaos is a warm, friendly and supportive group who welcome everyone and anyone willing to just give it a go!

    I've really enjoyed doing the pantomime Aladdin. Amanda has been a really good director gave me the time and encouragement I needed to find the character I want to portray. Maz did a wonderful job with the choreography, it's all quite simple to dance but looks really good. Hazel has done splendid with being the musical director, just need to fix my timing!

    Chaos has been part of my life for many years and I can't imagine a year that goes by without it. I have met and made so many friends over the years and have been supported by them to write my own scripts and step onto the production team on multiple occasions.

    Putting on a show is like nothing else, the thrill and adrenaline rush. The best feeling is seeing other members coming up through Chaos, watching their confidence grow with each show. I am always so proud of every show we put on and can't imagine a time where I don't perform with Chaos.
